India vs Sri Lanka T20 Match

India vs Sri Lanka t20 Match

Virat Kohli's fine half-century and Irfan Pathan's opening spell helped India beat Sri Lanka by 39 runs in the one-off Twenty20 International played in Pallekelle.

Riding on Kohli's well-crafted 68, the Indians managed to put up a respectable 155 for three.
In reply, Sri Lanka were bundled out for 116 in 18 overs, largely due to Pathan (3/27) and career-best effort of four for 19 by Ashok Dinda.
Pathan bowled a fine opening spell as he dismissed Tillekaratne Dilshan (0), Upul Tharanga (5) and the dangerous Mahela Jayawardene (26, 5x4) during his first spell of three overs.
If Pathan ran through the top-order, Dinda cleaned up the lower order, taking the last three wickets without conceding a run.

Kohli's dream run continued and his undefeated fourth wicket partnership of 146 runs with Suresh Raina (58) helped India reach the 252-run target in 42.2 overs at the R Premadasa stadium.
This was Kohli's 13th century in his 89th ODI appearance, a feat hitherto unattained by any other batsman in ODI history. The Delhi batsman, on his way to another three-digit figure, also completed quickest 1000 runs in a calender year with a whopping average of 77.15.

Gautam Gambhir's superb century and brilliant counter-attacking cricket from Suresh Raina helped India beat Sri Lanka by five wickets and go 2-1 up in the five-match One-day International series in Colombo on Saturday.

Chasing 287 to win, India overhauled the target with two balls to spare.

Gambhir's 11th ODI century may have been in vain had Raina not come up with a stubborn knock in the company of Irfan Pathan.

Virat Kohli on how India achieved the impossible at Hobart

Virat Kohli, who smashed an unbeaten 133 to guide India to a morale-boosting victory over Sri Lanka in a crunch tri-series outing in Hobart on Tuesday, said the team took the match as playing two Twenty20 games and was confident of winning it in 40 overs.

India needed to overhaul the target of 320 in 40 overs to get a bonus point and stay afloat in the tournament, which they did eventually in 36.4 overs and seven wickets remaining.
